PURESCRAP
Today, we highlight the important role of recycling in building a more sustainable future. The steel industry relies on scrap metal as a necessary resource.
Within the PURESCRAP project, we focus on improving the characterisation of post-consumer scrap. By combining an optical-spectroscopic sensor chain with deep learning solutions, PURESCRAP enables a more accurate characterisation of scrap composition. This enables a better management of tramp elements and increases the use of lower-quality scrap in steel production.
Our project contributes to:
- more efficient recycling
- reduced CO₂ emissions
- a stronger circular economy
Scrap is a key resource, and a better understanding of its properties helps unlock its full potential.
