Located in the heart of Styria, close to the iron-bearing \u201cErzberg\u201d mountain, it is only logical that metallurgy and steel making are part of a long tradition. Equipped with two blast furnaces that supply an integrated steel making route, over 1.6 million tons of steel are produced on a yearly basis. For VASD, research and development are the basis of continuing success. Our most-recent addition the \u201cTechMet\u201d resembles a downsized version of our steel production plant (from melting to continuous casting) and allows us to simulate realistic near-production conditions on a smaller scale (5 tons).
